About

The Willow Creek Ranch at the Hole-In-The-Wall is a beautiful, 57,000 acre, actively operating cattle and horse ranch. It is located on the South Big Horn – Red Wall Back Country Scenic Byway, sixty miles north of Casper and thirty-five miles southwest of Kaycee, Wyoming.

It lies at the southern end of the Big Horn Mountains, and the elevation ranges from 5200′ to 8200′. Its geography varies from flat open range, to rolling hills, to canyon country, and on into the higher country of the Big Horns proper.

The famous red wall, approximately 350′ high and composed of red sandstone, forms about 18 miles of its boundary on the east and south sides of the ranch, and is home to many species of birds, including pigeons, falcons and eagles. As the sunlight changes throughout the day, the wall becomes a focal point for photographers and artists rushing to capture its awesome beauty.

The ranch was founded in 1882 and still operates in much the same way as it did over one hundred years ago. A visit to Willow Creek Ranch includes fascinating history, beautiful scenery, exciting horseback riding, great trout fishing, and much more that makes it the ultimate Wyoming western vacation. Not a typical dude ranch experience, the Willow Creek Ranch has no televisions, swimming pools, hot tubs or golf courses. But what we do have are miles and miles of authentic “Old West” and plenty of warm hospitality and great food for everyone.

The ranch’s specialty is a working cowboy vacation, but we will tailor your visit to meet your exact needs. We will schedule anything from riding and camping in tents or tepees, trout fishing, driving cattle or branding after roundup, exploring, bird watching, photography trips, painting or just sitting and reading.

Whether you are a fly fisherman or angler, you can also enjoy a great trout fishing experience at the Willow Creek Ranch.

The ranch boasts miles of some of the best small stream fly-fishing in the west and has been featured several times on fly-fishing television shows. We have many guests who come just to fish, enjoy the food, and take pleasure in the magnificent scenery. If you like to shoot, we will spend hours at skeet or target practice with a variety of gun types.

We also cater to special interest groups such as youth programs, retreats, bike tour groups, museum tours, and endurance ride groups. We have much western history in this area of Wyoming that cries out to be remembered.
